Let your devices talk to each other

Synchronizing databases from different devices P2P style.

The IoT world is slowly getting rid of the central server piece but let's face it, we are not there yet. In the future, devices should be able to talk to each other without any central component. This talk is an attempt to speed up this process.

I will explain how I created a simple chat app as an example to demonstrate this. Every devices running the chat app should be able to auto discover themselves in the same network and to push and/or pull some data between them. To do so I have used DNS service discovery and the mobile database Couchbase Lite.
